Producer

Mezzacorona, based in Trentino, is one of Italy’s most respected cooperative wineries, known for its commitment to quality and sustainable winemaking. Established in 1904, Mezzacorona combines traditional practices with modern techniques to produce wines that reflect the purity of the region. The Castel Firmian range showcases wines crafted from select vineyard sites, emphasising the unique characteristics of each varietal. The Pinot Grigio from this line is a testament to Mezzacorona’s dedication to producing fresh, elegant wines that capture the essence of the Dolomites.

Mezzacorona was founded in 1904 and was one of the first growers’ associations in Italy. Forward thinking and progressive for its time, they have a state-of-the-art winery and meticulous viticulture bringing out the full potential of its 2,400 hectares of vineyards. The vineyards are to be found on the plains and terraces of the Dolomite foothills, stretching between Lake Garda and the Alps to the north. Each vineyard site is planted to the grape variety best suited to its particular characteristics and follows sustainable practices. The grape growers of Mezzacorona work hard to preserve the specificity of different wine-growing zones in the area and maintain organic and fertile soils, which is the basis for producing excellent wine. 75% of Mezzacorona’s state-of-the-art winery is located underground, providing naturally cooler temperatures, whilst solar power is used to heat water and to provide a green source of electricity.

Food Pairings

This Pinot Grigio pairs perfectly with light and fresh dishes. Enjoy it with grilled fish, shrimp risotto, or seafood pasta for a harmonious match. It also complements salads, vegetable dishes and white meats like chicken or turkey. For a vegetarian option, pair it with roasted zucchini or a creamy mushroom quiche. Its bright and crisp profile makes it an excellent choice for al fresco dining or as an aperitif.

Wine Region

Trentino DOC, located in northern Italy at the foothills of the Dolomites, is renowned for its crisp, aromatic white wines. The region’s alpine climate, with warm days and cool nights, allows grapes to ripen slowly, preserving their natural acidity and vibrant flavours. The mineral-rich soils of Trentino contribute to the wine’s structure and finesse, making it one of the most celebrated areas for Pinot Grigio production in Italy.
