Château Labégorce Zédé de Labégorce 2017 Margaux, Bordeaux, France
A wonderful Margaux Bordeaux wine from Château Labégorce. Floral Margaux elegance is present on the nose and the palate shows an appetising blend of black fruit and savoury, spicy notes. Good concentration and a long, poised finish. Following a traditional fermentation in concrete vats, this wine was transferred to barrel, with twenty percent new oak, for fifteen months’ ageing.

Château Labégorce has a long history in northern Margaux, the estate having already been owned by Gorce family for centuries by the time of the French Revolution. After that it was split into three and sold off. The properties were reunited (though not in their entirety) by the late Hubert Perrodo, who bought Château Labégorce itself in 1989, and the other two châteaux in the early twenty-first century. His daughter Nathalie now manages the combined estate.
The combined vineyard consists of fifty-seven hectares in Margaux, gently sloping towards the north-east. The vines average thirty years old, with some planted in the early 1900s.
