Producer
Olivier Coste is a very talented winemaker, part of a family with over 300 years of winemaking history in the Languedoc-Roussillon region,
Since his childhood, Olivier’s favourite places to play have been the vineyards and the family wine cellar at Domaine Montrose, his family’s wine estate founded in 1701 in Pézenas. With this upbringing, Olivier developed a profound attachment to the Languedoc’s terroir and landscape and later to its wines. Olivier and his team are committed to respecting the environment so that future generations can enjoy nature’s heritage and his vineyards follow organic, sustainable and biodiversity farming and are carbon neutral.
His wines come from carefully chosen plots of grapes on some of Languedoc-Roussillon’s best terroirs and the Classic range wines are fresh, fruit-forward and aromatic – made for those who enjoy wine for pleasure with a few friends.
His passion for Viognier is evident in this carefully crafted wine, which captures the essence of the grape’s unique aromatic profile while showcasing the sunny climate of southern France. Olivier Coste wines are celebrated for their freshness, elegance, and commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Food Pairings
This Viognier is a versatile partner for a variety of dishes. Its aromatic nature and full-bodied profile make it ideal for pairing with white meats like roasted chicken or turkey, particularly when accompanied by creamy sauces. For seafood lovers, it complements grilled prawns, scallops, or sea bass perfectly, enhancing their delicate flavours with its citrusy edge. The wine’s rich, fruity character also pairs well with mildly spiced dishes, such as Thai coconut curry or Moroccan tagine. For a vegetarian option, try it with a roasted vegetable tart or a creamy butternut squash risotto. Its floral and fruity elements make it equally enjoyable as a standalone aperitif.
Wine Region
The Languedoc-Roussillon region, located in southern France along the Mediterranean coast, is renowned for its diverse terroirs and exceptional climate. The warm, sunny days combined with cooling sea breezes create the perfect environment for growing aromatic white grape varieties like Viognier. The region’s limestone-rich soils help retain moisture and lend a subtle minerality to the wines produced here. Languedoc-Roussillon has become a hub for organic viticulture, with many producers, including Olivier Coste, leading the way in environmentally conscious winemaking.
